“Oto moja baśń…” – Andersen in Cieszyn
Danish Cultural Institute is pleased to invite you to Adam Mickiewicz Theatre in Cieszyn for a ballet and musical spectacle entitled “Oto moja baśń…” (Here is my fairytale…) performed by the Mariola Ptak Dance Theatre in live musics company performed by the “Małe instrumenty” ensemble from Wrocław.
“Oto moja baśń…” is a spectacle divided into eight parts – eight fragments of the fairy tales written by Hans Christian Andersen. Each of them consists of a short animation and a longer ballet and theatre part. Extensive ballet scenes, transferring the viewer to the colorful and dancing world of fairy tales, are preceded by animations with Andersen in the main role. The writer cuts out the characters he invented, that get a new life in front of our eyes!
The musical part of the show is consisted of Fryderyk Chopins pieces played live by the band “Małe Instrumenty” on thirty little pianos (the so-called toy piano) that perfectly harmonize with the dynamic choreography and scenography of the show. During the last animation there will be a symbolic meeting of two masters: Andersen and Chopin. Andersen and Chopin did not really get to know each other, although many of them were connected – they were both symbols of the same era and represented similar longings typical for their times. Through interdisciplinary artistic activities, there will be a possibility to read and translate their works to modern language.
After the performance, we’d like to invite you to a joint discussion in which Bogusława Sochańska – director of the Danish Cultural Institute in Warsaw and Paweł Romańczuk – author of the project “Small instruments play Chopin” will take part. The discussion will be led by Alicja Czauderna.
