International Translation Day 2018
How does translation actually work? What are the obstacles in translating not only language but cultural practices, idioms and historic perceptions from one audience to another? This year, EUNIC Warszawa and Polish Association of Literary Translators celebrate the 10 years anniversary of the International Translation Day.
This year the International Translation Day’s theme is music. What are the differences between translation novels or poems and musical lyrics? Are there any difference?
Throughout the evening you will have the chance to attend a talk on the challenges of translating led by Michał Nogaś. The talk will feature polish translators of Catalan, Spanish, Russian, Czech and French is promises to deliver quite interesting perspectives on the fine craft of mediating a literary work. Participation is free of charge and everyone is welcome to join us for an evening of musical interpretation.
The talk will be followed by music & dance set performed by the DJ Collective NOS and a banquet.
When: Sunday, September 30th, 6 – 11 pm
Where: The Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle (CSW)
