EXHIBITION 'A WORLD OF WONDERS - DANISH CHILDREN'S BOOKS'
Many Polish libraries presented the exhibition on the Danish children's literature A World of Wonders. The exhibition was produced by The Danish Literature Center, the institution of which main aims are to promote the Danish literature abroad and support translations, litarary conferences and meetings.
The exhibition in an interesting way presented the children's books: It was buit up into theme segments - starting with the fairy tales by the world famous Hans Christian Andersen, through books about animals and other countries and cultures, to those depicting a family life and a child's birth. The attractiveness of the exhibition consisted in that a young visitor had the possibility to touch and browse the books as well as to listen to the H.C. Andersen's fairy tales.
In some libraries it was decided to organize drawing and painting competitions, which resulted in separate exhibitions by young artists. And it was very often LEGO POLSKA that donated prizes for the winners.
In the year 2000 the exhibition visited libraries in Jedrzejow, Inowroclaw, Pinczow, Radziejow, Bydgoszcz, Chelmza, Lebork i Koscierzyna and in 2001 in libraries in Puck, Stargard Szczecinski, Pyrzyce, Darlowo and a Youth Cultural Center in Szczecin. The exhibition was also presented in Warsaw within The Festival of European Languages. In the year 2002 the exhibotion visited libraries in Slubice, Mieszkowice, Wolsztyn i Gubin as well as The City Cultural Center in Gorzow Wielkopolski. Within the project Meet The Danes in the autumn 2002, the exhibition was shown in the library in Trzebinia near Krakow, and then also in other libraries of the region of Malopolska: In Nowy Targ, Labowa, Skrzyszow, and already in the year 2003 also in Szynwald, Krolowka, Nowy Wisnicz, Osielec, Golcza, Jerzmanowice, Brzeszcze i Babice.
