UNIKA - EXHIBITION OF DANISH HANDICRAFT
Due to great interest in the Danish design exhibitions presented in recent years in Warsaw and Poznan, the Danish Cultural Institute decided to present the exhibition UNIKA which illustrated the latest tendencies in the Danish handicraft.
The exhibition UNIKA was originally organized by the Belgian branch of the Danish Cultural Institute. Its director, Ms.Lone Leth Larsen asked Mr.Paul Jensen to prepare the presentation. The idea with the presentation was to inspire the discussion on the directions and challenges of todays hadicraft: The technological development and computerisation of the process of creation will involve a new revolution and be a threat to the handicrafts in favour of the industrial production and design. The ability to use different materials and creativity in the light of new challenges are main aspects of the discussion in which the exhibition UNIKA was the main voice. It showed the way the young generation of Danish artists referred to these challenges as well as to the Danish handicraft tradition. The works presented showed both Danish as well as international tendencies in this field.
UNIKA presented works by 52 artists in glass, textile, metal as well as ceramics, jewellery, furniture etc.

The exhibition, formerly presented in Denmark, Belgium and Luxembourg, visited following places in Poland:
- The Center of Japanese Art and Technics Manggha in Cracow (03.09-30.09.2002);
- The BWA Design Gallery in Wroclaw (18.10-11.11.2002);
