PHOTO EXHIBITION BY TOVE KURTZWEIL

Tove Kurtzweil - photographyTove Kurtzweil is an outstanding artist, well known in Denmark, and regarded as the most interesting photographer in the country. Several albums depicting her work have been published and her photographs are presented e.g. in the collections of the Lenono Photo Archive in New York and Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.

The exhibition Moment consisted of tiny poetical impressions from the artist's many journeys reflecting moments in which the real world is present. They do not, however, present events, which is a standard in today's fast-moving world. Tove Kurtzweil's photographs present neither the condition of man nor the beauty of landscapes. Their beauty comes from the depth of reflection - a poetic reflection in its aesthetic layer, but philosophic in its essence. The photographer stoops over seemingly unimportant things, accidentally connected with a particular place. While travelling worldwide the artist is able to find such places and moments that in her vision become a metaphor of time. They touch something deep and look for the mystery of time. Despite the deep reflection, looking for the synthesis of the past, presence and future, one does not find intellectual coolness in the photographs. On the contrary - there is warmness and silence in them.

The exhibition Moment was presented in 2000 at Galeria pf in The Culture Centre ZAMEK in Poznan as part of the project Denmark in the Castle. Then it was shown by The BWA Gallery in Bydgoszcz, the Mala Gallery in Gorzow, The Pommern Princes' Castle in Szczecin, The National Library in Warsaw as part of the project Z Dania na Ty and The Centre of Jewish Culture in Krakow.
