PETER GYLLAN - POSTERS AND GRAPHICS
In the Gallery BWA Design in Wroclaw, the exhibition of posters and graphics by Peter Gyllan was presented from 7th February to 2nd March 2003.
Peter Gyllan was born in Torun (1950). He studied history of art at Warsaw University. In 1971 he left Poland to settle in Denmark, where he completed studies in graphic design at The Royal Academy of Architecture in Copenhagen.
After the studies, he started to work at A/S Modulex, a part of the LEGO group; in 1985 he founded his own graphic studio GYLLAN GRAFIXX. He designs posters, graphical signs, lettering, calendars (Systemplan), magazines (rum&forum) as well as industrial graphics (Bang&Olufsen). Since the end of 80'ties, he has been lecturing at Danmarks Designskole, the leading Scandinavian design school. In 1989-1992 he was a dean of The Graphic Design Faculty.
Peter Gyllan is a member of the editorial team of the Danish magazine rum&forum as well as a collaborator of the international monthly Novum. As co-author he published a book Design Jan Tragaardh (1999). He was awarded several prizes at poster competitions as well as The Danish Annual Design Award - IG Prisen (1982) and Møbelprisen (1995). He is a member of Danish Association of Architects (MAA), Design Organisation (MDD) and New York Type Directors Club (TDC).
