EXHIBITION 'THE MAGIC WORLD OF BOOKS'
The Magic World of Books - Danish children's litarature is another exhibition prepared by The Danish Literature Center that is travelling across the country and being presented in many libraries and cultural centres in Poland.
The exhibition is mainly focused on book illustration, but also includes fragments of texts of chosen books as well as short presentations of the authors and illustrators. The books presented are both those issued many years ago as well as the latest ones, though in each case showing great abilities of the Danish illustrators and artists.
Since 90'ties many changes have occurred in Denmark as far as the children's book illustration is concerned: The borderline between text and illustration has been erased, so now the illustration itself has great significance. The exhibition shows those new tendencies in the Danish artists' understanding of the role of an illustration: Now, it is not only depicting the text, but is a means of expression and a piece of art itself. Therefore, works by the Danish artists and illustrators are of very good artistic quality and show highest level of craftsmanship, which can be observed on the exhibition.
Since May 2002, the exhibition has been presented in Warsaw on The International Book Fair as well as in Dom Polonii, on The 6th Book Fair in Cracow, in the City Library in Kielce, in Katowice as a part of the project Nordalia, during Danish Days in Kolobrzeg, in the libraries of Tarnobrzeg, Busko Zdroj, Opatow, in the Cultural Center ZAMEK in Poznan as well as in the libraries of the cities of Wrzesnia, Inowroclaw, Bydgoszcz, Wagrowiec and Leszno.
