EXHIBITION KAREN BLIXEN - LIFE AND WORK
The legend of Karen Blixen (1885-1962), the world-famous Danish 20th century writer, is alive in Denmark not only in literary circles, for whom the writer has long been a point of reference and source of inspiration...
The exhibition - prepared by Karen Blixen Museum in Rungsted - has been travelling around Poland for five years now. It shows Karen Blixen's complicated life, her friendships and loves, artistic fascinations, drawings and paintings as well as her achievements as writer.
Severely tried by life, she fascinated people with her unique personality, wisdom and literary skills. Her legend has embraced the places where she lived: The African farm and her family home in Rungsted near Copenhagen, where today the Museum of Karen Blixen is located. Also in Poland Karen Blixen and her literature have become very popular. Following volumes of Karen Blixen's short stories have been published lately: Anegdoty o przeznaczeniu, Cienie na trawie Dagerotypy, Karnawal, Listy z Afryki, Niewinne mscicielki, Opowiesci ostatnie, Pozegnanie z Afryka, Siedem niesamowitych opowiesci, Zimowe opowiesci. The exhibition Karen Blixen - Life and Work in the Cultural Center ZAMEK in Poznan.
In the years 2000-2003 the exhibition visited the libraries and culture centres of Poznan, Legnica, Walbrzych, Namyslow, Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Glucholazy, Prudnik, Jedrzejow, Pinczow, Rzeszow, Radom, Kolobrzeg, Rawa Mazowiecka, Darlowo, Slupsk, Koszalin, Szczecinek, Legionowo, Krzeszowice, Gdansk, Szczecin, Luban and Warszawa.
