PHOTO EXHIBITION 'EXISTENCE'
One of the most significant events of the year 2002 was the photo exhibition arranged by Galleri Image from Århus and Frederiksberg Slot Museum, which presented 60 photographs by six contemporary Danish artists.
The participating artists were: Torben Eskerod (b.1960) - the series Faces, Joachim Eskildsen (b. 1971) - the series Requiem Charlotte Haslund-Christensen (b. 1963) - the series Inner City, Thyra Hilden (b. 1972) - the series Red Out, Johnny Jensen (b.1965) - the series Meeting Places, Lisbeth Nielsen (b. 1957) - the series Sweet Reality.
The theme of the presentation was: Existence. Existence - perceived as a continuous and incessant process, of which incompleteness is an inseparable feature - was pictured in six different ways and through different subjects, e.g. landscape, interior and portrait, and in various techniques.
Tove Thage, one of the curators of the exhibition, wrote in the catalogue: "The presented photographs reflect a dialogue between traditional formalism in photography and the political and social nature of art. They structuralise impressions, ones which - by the very fact of this arrangement - likely makes the world even more comprehensible. To exist means to be visible".
