CONCERTS BY THE QUARTET 'NORDLYS'

Nodrlys Quartet The quartet visited Poland already for a second time and on 10th September represented Denmark during the European Union's Music Festival in The National Philharmony in Warsaw. The day after the quartet perfomed in Skierniewice.

The quartet NORDLYS had its debut in 1997 and consists of young musicians, mostly recent graduates from Odense Conservatorium: Christine Michaela Pryn (violin), Viktor Wennesz (clarinet), Joachim Olsson (piano), Frederik Waage (cello). The quartet mostly enjoys performing contemporary music, but also plays classical music.

The concert within the EU Music Festival, arranged in cooperation with the Danish Embassy, cnsisted of works by Carl Nielsen, Martin Lohse, Ib Nørholm and Paul Hindemith. Similar programme was presented in Skierniewice, where the quartet played on 11th Sepember.

The concert by the quartet Nordlys on 25th September 2002 in K. Szymanowski's Philharmony in Krakow inaugurated the project Meet the Danes, the first so extensive presentation of the Danish culture in the Malopolska region. On 29th September, thanks to the cooperation with the Danish Embassy, Nordlys performed in the F.Chopin Society in Warsaw. Both concerts included compositions by three Danish contemporary composers as well as the most outstanding Danish composer Carl Nielsen (1865-1931).
