PER ARNOLDI - 100 POSTERS

100 posters - exhibitionPer Arnoldi (b.1941) is a leading Danish artist. He is active with graphics, painting, scenography, ceramics, furniture and textile design. The exhibition of his posters was presented in Poznan, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Rzeszow. Posters by Per Arnoldi have a very disciplined form. They lack the turmoil and chaos typical of big-city life and are clear through their intensive basic colours and saving of signs.

Poster is the form in which he expresses himself best and in a unique manner. The exhibition 100 posters shows 100 examples out of many posters the artist has created for various institutions worldwide. A poster should be characterized by the functional usage of aesthetic means of expression and Per Arnoldi always achieves that result. He seems to possess a deep knowledge of the perception of information via signs and colours by a passer-by tired with the information coming from everywhere. His posters speak with a strong voice, thus sharply drawing the attention of visitors and engaging them in dialogue with their surroundings. In his works the artist constantly uses the same typography: Writing has not only a functional, but also an aesthetic aspect. The works by Arnoldi are included in the collections of many museums, eg. The Museum of Modern Art in New York, Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In Poland they were presented for the first time in 1994 in the Poster Museum in Wilanow, where his exhibition was the first in the series Great Masters of Poster. In 1996 Per Arnoldi was a jury member of 15th International Biennale of Poster organized by the Poster Museum in Wilanow.
